    Hi All,

Got the car serviced today and my kindly mechanic noticed that 1 of the lights in my dash was blown (behind the heater control) and changed it for me, only thing is it's a lot brighter than the others and is driving my OCD crazy, can anyone let me know what I should be buying to replace it and ideally any Youtube video show me what to do.

I'm fairly comfortably taking the dash out in the car as I have installed my own phone kit, in fact I bought a set of tools from ebay so it shouldn't be a bother.

It's probably the wrong bulb. It usually a 5w.

there are grey and black bulbs go in to the back of the avensis heater controls. The one grey is second from the left as you look at the dash. I suspect the wrong bulb is in the wrong place.

If you want a step by step guide i can post it here. I suggest replacing all 4 bulbs when doing it. They are about 3 quid each from toyota

Step one there is a long strip of plastic containing the back heater button and cup holder. This runs across to the passengers door. Open the passengers door and with a screwdriver pry the edge off. Now start pulling it off the whole way across. Once the whole thing is loose remove the cable for the heater controls and it is now completely separate.
Step Two there are two black screws under this which hold the pocket or computer screen above the long strip to the dash. Remove them and the panel comes out. If it is a pocket it just pulls out. If it is a computer display you will have to disconnect the cables at the back.
Step Three Twist off the gear nob
Step Four Grab the gear stick leather and pull straight up. If the silver surround separates from the plastic and leather then grab the plastic at the base of the leather and pull up. This panel comes out.
Step Five You should now see four brass coloured bolts 2 above and 2 below the heater controls/radio. Remove all 4. The radio and heater comes out together. Unhook all wires at the back
Step 6 Remove all screws at the side of the metal bracket holding the radio and heater contrls together. After this you have to wiggle the radio and heater control a little (slide left to right and they separate)
Step 7 Take the heater controls and remove the screws at the edges. you will see 4 circles on the circuit board. Remove them with a screw driver. These are your bulbs.

Putting back together is the reverse of taking it apart.

Brilliant, thanks a million, don't suppose you have a part number/link for the lights.

Happy Christmas by the way :D
