    Has anyone used letterboxd?

I have just heard about it. What exactly is it and is it free to use? What are your experiences with it?

    Thanks for your help.

I use it and love it. You essentially make a diary of the movies you watch and add reviews/ratings too. It's great for recommendations too as you can follow others (some of which being professional critics) and find out what films they rate highly.

Might not be of use to someone who watches on average four or five movies a year but if you're like me and see films often it's a very useful tool.

Thanks for your reply. Is it free to use?

Yep, but there's extra features too if you're willing to pay.

Are the extra features relevant? Could you do without them?

Here are the extras and no they're not at all essential to using the site. You basically just get more stats for what you watch during the year as well as more search filters.

You get a year in review page like this if you go pro:

I've used it the past 12 months. It's made it really easy to have a look back over what I did and did not like this year. I also can easily see if I've been getting use out of my Cineworld pass (24 movies in 12 months which wasn't great) to see if I'll keep it going for next year.

Coincidently, I just started following e_e on it a few hours ago. I mainly used it to follow my favourite critics.

Just found this while googling for something I've already forgotten. Think I'll sign up.

I mainly use it as a log for what films I've seen (and reporting Doctor Who episodes).

Dunno why but it feels better gauging people's opinion on a film from there than the likes of Rotten Tomatoes.

I just use it for keeping track of what I watch. I don't bother with the diary or reviews. I just compile what I've seen into a simple list. I might put a bit of time into it over the weekend and flesh out my profile. Here's what I've been watching lately.

Downloaded the app earlier today. Bit disappointed that it doesn't allow you to access all of your watched films. You can access your diary though but its not the same.
