Does the new crewbab tax regime apply to commercials, say a Discovery , if i put seats back into it, and unblocked the window ? could i then reclassify it as a crewcab ? or do you need to begin with a passenger jeep, and get it reclassified ?

You will have to pay the vrt on it if it's a van also I think it has to be pre 2010 , not 100% on year tho

hey, not 100% on the vrt part. Mine was a commercial and i converted it to crewcab and didnt have to pay any VRT. - Dont know about the 2010 part!

Maybe your 4x4 was a passenger to start and then made commercial , then crewcab , vrt was already paid ! I don't think revenue would let you away with it when you send the forms to Wexford

I think it's hit and miss. I've seen people convert commercial 4x4s no passenger VRT paid and not pay anything.

It's down to the person on the day.

mine was always commmercial and i still paid nothing, maybe because its value is relatively low. its the 3.1 model. Im ont sure has this something to do with it. But you could be right about the hit and miss thing. the whole crewcab/commercial tax area varies a lot from county to county.

Did you do the test 48 mas and dimensions ? Did you send log book to revenue in Wexford , hard to believe they let you off I've done a 95 one and the vrt was around €200

i didnt have to do the test48, i just had to get the cert and, when i went to tax it they took the old log book. i got a new log book with 5 seats in the post a few days later.
