Just your thoughts on finishing bullocks, what you feed them and time frame. At the moment at home getting them to factory at average 29 to 30 months at kill weight about 400kg usually O grade 3= or 3+.

Sounds like your operation isn't too bad as is, they must be British fr sorts? How long do you feed prior to slaughter, don't finish that many blks although will have a bunch next year

That would be very good going with Friesians. I presume you are buying as calves and carrying all the way yourself. Do many make the QA. Fresian are ver slow to go over fat biggest issue is getting them into fat score 3-.

Your doing well to get them to that weight at that age. I take it you'll be getting a Christmas card and calendar from the meal company this year!!

I would do a few at around 27 months. Jan feb born and killed outa shed in April may. I buy them as yearlings in spring. Grades p+ to o+ fats generally 2+ to 4 - weights 300 to 360 kgs. Theyd eat damn near a tonne of meal with me believe it or not.

What sort of weights would you get them to at that age? Would they not be better off let back out for 6months and finish off grass?

You'd graze nearly 3 yearlings on the same grass. It only takes another half tonne of meal to fatten em outa shed as opposed to storing em. And it's turnover and cash flow. I'd say around 330 kg avg.

I have 2 fr bullocks that will be killed between Christmas and new year their about 32 months and we have got them finished on about 200 kilos of meal. They are a serious size, I've ran them as an experiment and I will weigh them before we send them off. I'll post results when we slaughter them. The only meal they have got previous to that was when they were calves
