Looking for some recommendations on a combi box with 7 day epg for UK and Irish channels and recording ability. I guess I also need a saorview aerial installed as I just have the sky satellite. Any suggestions?

Yes a great idea, you will save loads of money.

Only €7 a month for Netflix combined with Saorview and Freesat - Great viewing for all the family.

Do you have a Saorview tv?
If so you could just get a freesat box which would work very well.

I'm in the same boat. Just to clarify, you won't get a combo box that does saorview and freesat. Freesat has slightly different channels than what the combo boxes get.

I'm between the amiko and the technomate boxes myself

    That is not true.
Any channel on Freesat is receivable on a standard satellite receiver.
To get the 7 day epg on Freesat you will need a receiver that supports Crossepg ,this includes any Linux receiver and a few other closed source receivers.

Doing the same thing myself now, looking at the ferguson ariva 250 combo and then triax tri link to replace rf2 to other rooms. I also have another sky box and I was using an spc4 so I could control the 2 boxes. I think I can just chain them together now and remove spc4.

You must be replacing 1 of the Sky boxes with the Ariva then?

If you connect the Sky box RF2 to the Tri-Link RF-in, the remote control signals will be passed on to the Sky box. Is this the 'chain' you're thinking of, or maybe that doesn't suit your layout?

You are correct, replacing a sky box with ariva. I was thinking more ariva to tri link, then that connecting to aerial in on sky box and then rf2 from sky box going to room.

Do you think that would work?

The remote control signal for the Ariva wouldn't get past the Sky box.

Is there anyway around that then, would a combiner work then?

Yes, you could try a combiner. I'm assuming the SPC4 doesn't have a 'non-Sky box' mode?

In that case you could try replacing it with a 2-way combiner/splitter. Just make sure it has power pass on at least 1 leg, for the 'magic eye(s)'.
