Providing the weather is OK I love to play Golf on Christmas day. Its about the only thing I look forward to on Christmas now aside from the dinner.

I'm sure there is some of you who could not get away even if they you wanted to especially those with young kids.

Is there many of you out there that play Christmas day???

I have done it a couple of times, but I havent for years. Was always a cool thing to do on a Christmas Day though. Great way to break up the day! :D

Did it for years before the kids came along. I thoroughly enjoyed it regardless of the weather, usually with up to 8 of a gang of friends. The mood was great.
I always felt it was a privilege to be away from all the nonsense. It's way in the past now though, shame.

Have always played on Christmas morning with my son and 2 of his friends for the last 20 years and then back to the house for the Big Fry-Up by the good lady. It also gives me a chance to try out my new toys that Santa (Top-Man) has left in my golf bag over night!!

I'm gonna play 9 holes before the Christmas bbq this year....unless there's unseasonal frost in Sydney of course.

Sure his game is going to go to bits if he's not playing in the wind and driving rain. I would almost feel sorry for him :):(

How does it work with most clubs, they're hardly open Xmas day?

Do you just turn up to your club and head out, or is someone operating a timesheet?

Like others, Christmas day is a no no, but thanks to this thread I've booked myself in for a round in Mulranny tomorrow morning.

It even spurred me to do my Christmas shopping a day early (today). Don't know myself.

My own club isn't "open" so to speak, but the course isn't exactly closed either. The club knows that some local people who are not members would jump on for a game on Christmas. No harm done here. It's been going on for years.

Thinking of heading out myself for a first christmas day round. Anyone know what the situation is with Dublin courses? Was thinking of going out to Deer Park but playing Clontarf would be much easier, don't wanna get chased off the course though or something :P

I heard years ago that this goes on in old head ? Is this true anyone know ? I've never played Christmas Day but if it could be the old head I might !!

Golf, 364 days of the year but Christmas mass time is one traditional tee off I'd not miss.

Our security guy lives across the road, he will open the main gate up Stephens Day and the old chute system is in play, real old school feel to the day :)

Cracking round this morning. Played the first 9 down in Clontarf, there was only about 3 or 4 others out. Course was in great knick and more importantly the weather outside wasn't so frightful. An annual tradition began today I think
