How long should a full valet take?

Unlikely that I'll get many answers at this hour but worth a shot :)

I booked an executive valet for this morning. It was a special offer, half price from €150 to €75. The guy is running late and will be almost an hour late, so I asked him how long it's going to take and he said an hour.

Now, I was under the obviously wrong impression that a full exec valet would take much longer than that?

I'm a bit worried he's going to do half arsed job despite their website going into great detail about what's included in the service.

How long should I be expecting this to take?

    Ta

It really depends on what his 'definition' of a full valet is and what equipment he uses...

i know a few guys at work got mobile ones done recently and it took about 1.5 to 2 hours... im sure they are trying to squeeze as many in as possibly coming up to christmas..

This is from their site. Tbh, I think I actually read the wrong menu when I was looking to book as this is not as detailed as I remember it being.

    Feck it anyway :/

Full wash using luxurious, AutoBrite pH neutral car bathing soap – will not strip waxes or sealants, and has hi lubricity to prevent marring of coachwork
    Door jambs degreased and cleaned
High quality, pH neutral pre-wash snow foam, removing significant soiling such as bird droppings, fly splattering, moss and other contaminants
    Full de-tar below bumper line
One coat of Autobrite pH neutral alloy wheel cleaner
Car dried top quality, soft, micro fiber drying towels – will not catch grit, thus preventing marring of coachwork
    Full interior vacuum
Dash and centre console washed & vents dusted
Door cards and seat backs washed
Full shampoo of car seats, matts and traffic areas of carpeting
    Interior windows cleaned and polished
High gloss, all-in-one cleansing polish hand applied to coachwork, filling slight marring and scratching and leaving a high gloss finish
High gloss enriching tyre gel – feeds tyre rubber to prevent cracking, whilst also leaving tyre with a lasting gloss

An hour for that?! No chance - more like 3-4 hours if it's just the one person working on it, and that's for a valet not a detail.

Also they mention polish but no wax or sealant

Two guys arrived. Sure we'll see! I was thinking more than a couple of hours.

The actual name of the valet is executive valet with machine wax and sealant so presume that's why it's not on the list above.

You live and learn I guess. That's what happens when you procrastinate for so long and end up booking something on impulse. I'm hoping I don't just end up with as good a job as I would have gotten from a shopping centre clean for much cheaper.

I'll let ye know how I got on!

I'm afraid we are going to have to insist on before and after shots! :D

There's a guy on boards I use when I'm in the mood for a clean car, have a look at his prices for comparison. Not working around dublin, but it'll give you an idea.

3-4 hours would be more like it, but with 2 guys working, I suppose it might work out.

Too late for before shots I'm afraid :P

I'll post some after pics. Take it that it really needed a good clean. It's cream leather interior, cream carpets etc so I was really hoping it to look like new after this and to glisten like it was straight out of the showroom but alas, I didn't put enough effort in to looking for someone. I'll remember to ask here in future!

Not happy with the end result?

I have a service I charge €120 for and I just tell people I'll need the car for the day lol. That takes me 4 hours on a moderately dirty car.

Was it a deals website offer by any chance?

Sorry I meant to reply to this yesterday! Have been mental busy so no pics sorry!

I'm not entirely happy with it, but it's grand. It's clean, but it doesn't feel like you're getting into a new car which I think is exactly what a good valet should feel like. No new car smell either :P

It wasn't from a deals site no, it was directly on the company's site.

I bought a "deal" from Green Steam Spa for €55. Included a steam clean of the seats etc. The lads were over 4 hours on the car and it came back like new. I gave the lad that finished it an extra tenner as he was saturated in sweat!!

Well worth the money for me.

Personally wouldn't pay someone that kind of money to clean my car even if it was brand new. I don't even let anyone eat or drink in 10+ year old car. Hardest part is getting the dust down the side of the seat.

Especially them small bits that get wedged into the seat rails. I use a paint brush to free them up and then the hoover will take them.

I keep my car in fair decent nick, inside especially. Last June car was booked in for a service (that reminds me, it soon needs to be done again) and full valet to the tune of 100 yoyos. Got it for 80 though. Between it all they had the car for a day and a half, but the results were outstanding. They obviously took their time, despite how the car wasn't bad.

    Thanks for the tip.
