    Jane Bown was a legend.

I recall reading that back in the 70's and 80's she would pack her OM1, some tri-x, and two lenses into a Harrod's bag and that was all the quipment she took on any of her assignments. Very understated, but wow, the pictures she made were sensational.

i didn't realise it was she who took that photo of beckett.

a woman of refined taste, given her penchant for the OM1.

Apparently Beckett met his match here and when leaving a theatre was met by Bown who wanted a portrait, Beckett on the other hand didn't want a portrait. The end result of clashing personalities resulted in an outstanding portrait of Beckett and he thanked her for it. Strong lady in an age dominated by make photographers.
