Nexus 7 stuck on Google Logo

Any Nexus 7 2nd gen owners had this problem and resolved it successfully and saved the data being erased?

Can get the options for recovery, restart bootloader but none of the special options work using the power on and vol button held method but the options will not reboot the tablet.

Have tried the Youtube solutions but they don't work for me.

May be my last Nexus device with this malarky, very unimpressed.

I wouldn't be biased on a whole brand just because of a boot issue, the Nexus devices are excellent.

What we're you doing before the issue occurred? Was there a system update or anything similar? You may just need to wipe your cache:

To wipe the cache partition, follow these steps:

    1. Turn off the device.
    2. Press and hold the Volume Down and Power keys at the same time for about 10 seconds.
An image of an Android lying on its back will appear.
    3. Press the Volume Down key twice until "Recovery mode" appears on the screen.
    4. Press the Power key to restart in "Recovery mode."
    5. An image of an Android with a red triangle will appear.
    6. Press the Power key and Volume Up keys simultaneously.
    7. Use the Volume keys to scroll to "wipe data cache partition" and press the Power key to select.

    Hi Advert,

Basically set the alarm to wake me up in the morning except what greeted me was the Google logo.

Have tried all these recovery and boot loader starts, all I get when performing the above is the Google logo when I select the power key to Restart in Recovery mode. It does not get beyond the Google logo in any mode.

Have you tried flashing a factory image (with no wipe data option).

Only will work if you have already unlocked the Boot-loader and USB debug is selected in Developer Options.

Nexus Root Toolkit will be helpful if you have never flashed an image before.

Make sure to set no wipe options in settings.

Another option is to see if you can boot into Safe Mode (second option)

    Hi Corkie,

You need to be in Bootloader mode, the toolkit will give you instructions on how to get there if you tick the option under Flash Stock + Unroot , Soft Bricked/Boot loop.

    bcZzNKw.jpg

Make sure you have gone in to options first and under Flash Stock no wipe mode is ticked.

If for some reason you get errors when flashing the image, also enable "Force Flash Mode".

Let us know if it works for you?

Doing a Nexus factory image downloader with the tablet in the Fastboot mode wit the Start button icon showing.
The Download Status after the 30 min process indicated Complete, Hashcheck said Match, Extraction said fine but the end result was it said Fastboot device not found.

I am using the OEM cable and USB 2.

I have selected Restart Bootloader on the device and ok on the NTK but the same notification comes up. The NTK fastboot status indicates Fastboot device not found. Will read the guide for some info.

You will need to load the drivers for the Nexus 7!

See the bottom of this guide for instructions: -

Restoring to Factory Stock with Toolkit

Cancelled the Fastboot and followed the instruction to get to bootloader mode. Basically the tablet will not fire up into this mode, am holding all 3 buttons in. The tablet only goes on into another mode with power on and the 3rd button held in. Looks like it is duffed to me.

If you haven't previously unlocked the bootloader, you are going to need to wipe the device.

Then the only method left to you is to do it manually through fastboot.

[Guide]How to flash a Nexus Factory Image manually.

Skip steps 7 & 8 to keep data.
And for step 11, choose to flash each of the images individually and don't erase userdata.

You can get the factory images from here make sure you pick the right one for your device. (i.e. 2013 wifi/mobile versions) (5.0.1 (LRX22C) is the latest for wifi)

Tuckered out from doing this and that. Basically if I cannot get into bootloader mode is there anypoint in trying to manually get an image onto my tablet?

It's up to you and what your N7 is worth to you?

Going by what you have posted, since you can not get into bootloader mode, I guess that image on your device has been corrupted someway!

Flashing a factory image should probably fix it for you.

Take a break for today and try again tomorrow.

Back on this item and it is wrecking me head.
Have downloaded all those software items but the following item has failed to load without error after 3 to 4 hours downloading, now of download attempt 3.
Step 3: Download the factory image from Google Developer website. The latest builds are listed below: Nexus 7wifi

Have done step 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, but when I get to Step 7: when trying to unlock bootloader and selecting the power button the command prompt indicates "erasing data" and has bombed out 3 times. It has been ""erasing" for over 30 mins at this point.

So near and yet so far with this thing

Can you get into recovery and install a Rom from it?

I completely screwed my 1st gen over the weekend (installed 5.0 custom rom and Gapps for 4:o)

Only thing that worked for me was to download custom rom and copy it to one of these CLICK HERE(handy for when devices have no SD slot ;)) , then use install and search for it on external SD card.

Once that was done I was able to set up Nexus Root Toolkit and install new factory rom.

    Might be worth a try.

You do have USB debug selected previously in developer settings?
If you want to keep data, your device should already be bootloader unlocked?

Why are you doing step 7?

If your device has previously be unlocked and setting ticked in developer options. Try following the rest of the steps.

Other than the above, My knowledge of how to resolve this has reached a limit.

You may now have a permanently bricked device and a paperweight!

I have bricked a good few android devices over the years. But have always managed to find a way via google on unbricking them.
Perhaps I have been lucky so far.

Okay, feel very near getting this thing to work again just need some help getting bootloader back onto it.

Currently I can recognise in my laptop device manager the "Google Nexus Bootloader Interface "
I have the tablet connected in Fastboot mode vis USB.

I have the sdk tools zip file extracted. Within this folder I have applications called "Fastboot", "md5sums" and "adb".

In the command prompt I can run Fastboot Oem unlock and get to that screen on the tablet.

If I remain in fastboot mode what do I run next to get fastboot loader to the tablet or do I flash an image ?

Currently downloading a factory image from this webpage

    https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images

Having done a flash stock +unroot the attached are the results.
I had the tablet in fastboot mode at the start and at the end after the screen momentarily blanked during the process. I then pressed the power button to activate the Start mode but the google logo is all I get.

Do I need to "force" flash stock +unroot ?

Going by Your command log, your bootloader is still locked!

So using "force" flash won't work.

Try OEM unlock command again, or use the Unlock feature of the NRT!

Remember Toolkits don't work unless you previously selected USB debug in Developer Options!

Have never been into Developer options on the Nexus 7 so it must be locked. Will keep trying the OEM unlock and then leave it at that. Only for this not working I'd have been up and running by now.

Will look for something in the new year to replace it as was getting tired of the 7" screen.

sorry I have to disagree , you only need usb debug for adb , to unlock you need to use fastboot ' fastboot oem unlock' is the command to use .

and its a lot better and easier in the long run to learn how to use fastboot and adb rather that using toolkits ,its really hard to hard brick any android device , so dont give up , have a look at xda , there's lots of tutorials there to help you .

My bad, thought you needed USB debugging for fastboot as well!

Just need it for toolkits to function.
