I looked at my folks Asus x54c laptop and there is an echo coming from both speakers and headphones.
I checked the Realtek audio manager and on the Sound Effects tab, Environment is set to Sewer. I tried changing it to None but never saves the change.

Not sure if I'm on the right path thinking its something to do with the Audio Manager or should I be looking elsewhere. Drivers are all up to date.

An tough one, but any ideas?

If you can't turn off the sewer effect it might be worth reinstalling driver from scratch
