New iPad Air / iOS 8.1 screen not responding with searches

I have just purchased a new iPad air 32gb + 3G. I have noticed when I do a Google search and the results come up on the first page, if I try to tap one of them, the screen is unresponsive. Instead what I have to do is slightly scroll up or down and then I can tap a link and it will respond. Does anyone else have this issue and is there anything I can do about it?

Try closing the safari app, go back to the home screen and press the home button twice, swipe up on the app and then try it again. If it still isn't working try restarting the ipad, press and hold the home button and the power button at the same time until an apple appears in screen.

    I've seen this intermittently too.

This worked for the very first search I did after, but the very next one, seconds later I am back to the same issue

I've had the same problem. I'm not sure whether it was the software update or restore that sorted it but one of them did.

What iOS version do you have now?

    8.1.2

If you have that then it might be time to restore as new.

I'm on 8.1 at the moment so I'd need to update to 8.1.2 - if I restore as new will it just stay as 8.1?
