Nova's 'Secret Santa' seems to be a campaign to get it's listeners to 'spread the word' without getting the promised reward.

A few days after it started some girl 'found' the Secret Santa but didn't get the €5k - yet they keep saying 'Find the Secret Santa and win €5k'

Seems like it'll be the same as last year - don't bother your ar$e until the last few days because even if you do find him you won't get any money :mad:

Yeh, it was aired, she found him but only got DVD's or some sh1t, so that's what got me thinking, WHEN does someone get the €5k rather than a handful of CD's  AFIC it's just a ploy to get people talking about Nova and boosting the listenership , bet the 'Santa' never moves from the studio

Yeah I was thinking that myself. All the clues have been clear as day yet nobody seems to find him/her.

Are you the Radio Nova Secret Santa? It’s one simple question that could see you win €5000 in cash and a sack load of Christmas prizes

I heard someone find him on the 11th and she got this...
XMusicTwo classics from XMusic, Ireland’s home of rock and roll. Marshall DSL5C guitar amp and a black Fender Stratocaster electric guitar worth €1000.

Yeah I couldn't get my head around that girl in Dublin Airport finding him, yet getting no 5K.

Surely this is false advertising at it is finest?

There literally saying find the Santa get 5K and when you do you don't get 5K!

They keep saying that Santa has the 5k on them...I'd be going through the feckers pockets if I found them.

I'm listening to Nova at the moment, and the DJ sounds like a drunk ranting on the nightlink.
It seems like I spend more giving out about Nova than enjoying the music these days. Time to move on I think !

More like it'd be impossible for someone to spend the cash if it was won any later, I guess. If its given as a cheque they still won't get it before Christmas.

The basics of a good radio promotion is that it goes as close as possible to the last day of the competition period.

Thanks for clarifying, as for your views I'm not sure they'd be shared by all but hey it ain't my problem, I'm sure Nova can speak for themselves

    Hi guys,

The Secret Santa competition was explained in great detail on air through promos and copious amounts of live mentions. Secret Santa had a new prize every day for the first two weeks, with €5,000 during bounty times during those two weeks and then he/she had the €5000 all times they were out from the end of the second week right through until SS was found.

Secret Santa was out every single day at the locations that matched the clues and there were daily opportunities to find him/her and win the €5K as well as all the other prizes. The essence of the competition is that it is harder to find SS at the start and easier at the end, hence the difference in the clues. They get easier as the competition goes on. After all, it would be a bit of a dud competition if SS was found on the first day wouldn't it?!

Our guarantee at all times was that someone would win €5000 before Xmas and we explained very clearly on air when SS had the €5,000 and when he/she didn't.

No false advertising at all, it was all explained very clearly. And far from someone winning a few DVDs or CDs, the prizes won on each of the first two times SS was caught were more than reasonable and the two winners when straight back out again to try and find SS again.

So this year, our third time running the SS comp, Secret Santa was found three times. The first two times, they were outside the Bounty period, clearly identified on air (one only by a few minutes), with SS staying in the same place all the time. The €5,000 was won the third time.

So no con, false advertising or any of the things mentioned in this thread - it was all explained very clearly on air and we have three very happy winners.

    Thanks

    Kevin

Fair enough Kevin.....problem for most here was seems no one was listening that closely...all i heard was "Find SS and win 5k"....and yes it would have been a bit of a dud if he was found on the first day, but isnt that the way competitions are supposed to work...???

    Merry Christmas...:)

    Inside and Outside 'Bounty Periods'?

I'm sure it's a good promotion for Nova, but all that Bounty Period stuff, while not false advertising, seems unnecessary and leaves the station open to being accused of being Sneaky Santa more than Secret Santa.

I just going to remind you about the forum charter and making statements such as above. Everyone needs to be aware of making such statements your on your own! It's clearly not acceptable.
