cannot save images to tablet

I just got an android tablet running kitkat I can't seem to be able to save images at all from anywhere, it says either download failed or image cannot be saved can anyone shed some light on this at all Thanks

My old htc was the same unless an sd card was inserted, despite having ample internal memory it just wouldn't save.
