Mk4 Fiesta indicator stalk replacement

Replaced the indicator stalk on a Mk 4 fiesta, using one sourced from a scrapers. Original issue is now resolved, but as soon as I turn on the ignition the wiper fuse in the fuse box beside the steering wheel blows. The car is not here at the moment so I can't check my theory.

Can anybody else shed light or make a suggestion as to what my issue might be?

In the spirit of full disclosure, the car I was working on is a '99, the "new" stalk came from a '97
