Up until last week my PC was working perfectly. On Monday of this week I turned it on and again it was fine. After a while my monitor flickered black and then said there was no signal detected. I turned it off and back on again but nothing came of it. I plugged the GPU into the other PCI slot but still nothing.

I tried the CPU and it worked for a while but I got the same "no signal detected". If I plug it out and leave it for 2-3 hours it works fine for about 5 minutes and then the same issue.

Anyone have idea what it could it be? Has it happened to anyone else?

What do you mean you tried the CPU ?

Provide more info to help others diagnose the issue like make of CPU, MB, GPU, Monitor ?
It can be one million things. A few questions for you.

Have you tried the Monitor on a different machine ?
Have you tried the GPU on different machine ?
Do you get any error beeps from BIOS when you boot the machine and get no signal on the monitor ?
When you have no signal, does the machine boot up, CPU/GPU fan spins, HDDs spin, LED on front panel show any life ?

Sorry I meant I tried the IGPU from the CPU. CPU is an I5 4670K, MB is a gigabyte z87, GPU is a HIS 280X and monitor is a BenQ 22 inch.

I haven't tried the monitor on a different machine as I have nothing else to plug into it and the same goes for the GPU.

It boots to windows fine there's just no display. Everything spins up just no display.

I am assuming that the CPU boots up properly when you power ON i.e. status front LEDs flashing and no error beeps from BIOS.

As IGPU and GPU both have issues with the monitor, I think your monitor is on its way out.
Try a different monitor and connect to you GPU or IGPU. That will confirm that monitor is at fault.

Most modern TVs have DVI and HDMI inputs.

Cheers mate I'll try that. Won't be able to do it until after christmas but thanks.

If both integrated video and dedicated are having the same issue, overwhelmingly likely to be a monitor problem (or could be as simple as a bad cable).

I usually use a hdmi/dvi cable. Took a dvi cable from work and had the same issue. Ah well. I've been looking for a reason to get a better monitor for a while.
