I'd no idea she was still going but apparantly Madonna's new album has been leaked leading her to describe the leak as "artistic rape" and "a form of terrorism". I don't see how this could be construed as a form of terrorism to be honest, let alone rape. She's more concerned with profits than the music and attempting to portray herself as some sort of rape victim is pathetic and disgusting not to mention insensitive to actual rape victims:

Stating that piracy is a form of terrorisim is a silly statement alright, but I wouldn't equate describing something as "artistic rape" as drawing a comparison to rape victims myself... more having her work plundered than anything else.

Piracy is akin to terrorism, Innocents being murdered for personal or political profit.

Any nation can prosecutable pirates found on the high seas under it's own laws. There is no question of jurisdiction, any nation can prosecute any pirate found in international waters under it's own laws. [/end of discussion.]

using the phrase piracy to describe the civil action of copyright infringement is something we should not put up with. It's pretty close to using the Red Cross symbol in a video game for health kits.


There are plenty of existing international laws covering this. Berne convention means that copyright exists automatically when a work is recorded until, in most countries except Oz, 70 years after the death of the last surviving creative artist involved.

And seeing how most artists only get a pittance there's no justification in giving the corporates more rights when they are reluctant to follow due process with their existing ones. The stats are very clear , once the corporates offer media online in a timely and resonably priced manner in a new market peer to peer traffic falls off drastically.

On a more personal note Madonna herself has released free stuff before that was only available in the US. So what did she think would happen ? The stuff wouldn't pass the boarder and/or no one outside the US would be offended by having to pay for stuff that was only free in the richest country , in effect subsidising them.
