Getting rid of mothball smell from apartment?

Does anyone know how? I'm abroad and don't speak the local language, so asked a local to find me something to get rid of cockroaches and was given what I was told was bait for them to bring back to their nests. Instead they turned out to be mothballs, I put a load of them down, mostly in hard to reach places and went out for the day, when I came back the place absolutely stank. I've picked up most of them, but some are still in places I can't get them like in behind walls. The smell isn't quiet as bad, but I still smell it everytime I walk into the apartment, and I'm also paranoid that the smell is clinging to me and all my clothes, which I'd assume it is.

Anyone have any ideas? Currently just have air fresheners up everywhere and a spray like febreeze, but all they're doing is temporarily masking the smell, everytime I come back I smell them. I also really don't want to be going around smelling like mothballs.

    Any advice appreciated

Wash everything with baking soda, including your clothes.
Mix pet odor nuteralizer with water and spray behind walls.
    Info from google.
