Underneath they are both the same car as Hyundai and Kia are sister companies. The Kia comes with a 7 year or 150,000 km warranty - whichever comes first. The Hyundai on the other hand comes with a 5 year unlimited mileage warranty.

The Kia is better looking (subjective I know) and feels a bit more upmarket, it also holds it's resale value a little better than the Hyundai and uses the space a little better. Reliability is near identical with both. It will probably boil down to personal preference choosing between them.

OP, was in same boat as you looking for used 11 reg sportage but gave up all are in around 22k plus for a 4 year old car. Made no sense we buying new Nissan in Jan and got great deal for very little more than a 2nd hand one. 141 demo Qashqai was also offered circa 24k .
Pm if you need more info.

    Regards.
