have about 5 tins of roses boxes full up of nuts and bolts. need to divide them up some way better. always cant find the right nut and bolt and buy 50 to have spare and they get heaped on top of the other bolts I already have. need some system to divide them up that's cheap at the same time. id say I actually have every size nut and bolt but its nearly always impossible to find the one I need at the time
what do ye use to divide them up?

I thought this was going to be some form of philosophical thread for some reason!:pac:

Chinese takeaway containers & Egg boxes. Work a treat!

need something a bit more permanent. if the egg box split in halfand they spilt everywhere I would go nuts

Screw jam jar lids to a beam, you can then fill the jam jars with nuts and bolts and twist them onto the lid. The jars being clear makes it very easy to see the bolt size

I have seen that done by Kirstie Allsopp on her vintage home program, clever and simple idea.

My grandfather used to do it for everything like that, nails screws etc

Same here but I've them screwed onto 4x2s that is left up on shelf stands attached to the wall of the shed and can be taken down to root around properly. Bigger bolts use dolmio or similar jars. The lids will hold a surprising weight.

Or beer bottles with twist tops :)

The jar with the twist lid tip works great, but if you're a lazy sod like me you'll cut the bottom off five litre spray containers about three inches up. I have them in a row at the back of the bench. Because of the different types of machinery I play about with as a hobby I need to have different containers for metric and imperial and these are easily marked with an indelible marker.

Is it not just as handy to buy what you need and keep the loose ones in one tin. If you need lots of bolts it's worth while getting sort imo boxes or similar and have designated sections

Lidl or Aldi do some of those wall organiser yokeys now and again with the removable/stackable bins, they'd be worth keeping an eye out for,

not mine, just did a quick google. some of those smaller oil bottles you get at petrol stations cut up, could use plastic milk containers or similar

do the same as above with milk cartons... but keep them out of the sunlight or they can become brittle.
a tidy workshop is a pleasent place to work.

bought the wall mounted small drawers in Aldi a while back. Loads of small drawers.
Took about 10 minutes to hang and about 3 days to organise it...
Bought three more since. About a €10 a go.
