Underpayment of USC

Hi all, I hope someone can clear this up for me. I was on maternity leave from May 2013 until the end of dec of same year. My employers did not substitute my salary whilst out on leave. I got the government maternity benefit. When I came back, one if my bosses came in and told me I owed him €450 in USC for 2013. I wasn't shown any revenue letter or anything but just asked to come up with a plan of how I was going to pay him back. Well at the time I put it on the back burner but my other boss has approached me again asking me to sort it out. I did get my p60 for 2013 and it stated I paid €450 in USC. My question is this. Why, if there was an underpayment which was spotted by my employer, was I not contacted by the revenue as well as my employer and why didn't my salary change for 2014 if there was an underpayment in 2013? Wouldn't my salary be adjusted once the error was noted, back in January of 2014??? I'm also suspicious of the fact that I was never given any payslips or letters from revenue to my employer regarding any changes.... What do ye think? I know I should be getting payslips...

Maternity benefit from the DSP is not liable for USC, so the period in question is January to April 2013. Do you have any payslips for this period?

If so, do they match the net pay you received? If so, underpayment (if any) of USC is between yourself and Revenue.

If they don't I could make a fair guess as to what's happened, but your payslips are the first port of call. If you don't have them, ask for copies, or a full breakdown for those months.

I did request my P60 for 2013 and that stated my salary and said I paid €450 USC for that period.
