    Hi,I'm looking to buy a commercial vehicle that just passed doe and has commercial tax for 3 more months,I'm looking to turn it private by taxing privately and insuring privately.will there be any problems with this next year when attempting to put it through nct?please need a reply soon.the mechanic I having a look at it on Friday.

    As for your question, a commercial vehicle will always go through the DOE regardless of tax and insurance.

    You must put it through the DOE.

    The above is correct regardless of whether the van is taxed privately or not it will have to be cvrt tested every year (used to be called doe) bear in mind it's a 111.16 euro inc vat. The newer cvrt compared to the doe is harder to pass, more expensive, you get a disc for the window which you must display. But once the van is right mechanically you'll have no issues passing it.
