Hi. Just a general question. I went for an interview 2 weeks ago and was told that they would ring me the following week. I have had no call from them yet. Should I ring them tomorrow or should I just wait a while longer? or not at all???
    Thanks in advance:rolleyes:

Give them a buzz you have nothing to lose.

If you're not proactive enough to follow up on an interview, then it doesn't well from a potential employer's perspective. Call them. All you have to say is that as per your interview two weeks ago, you'd like to know if there has been any developments from that.

Ring them yes but be warned that HR or Agency people will often not bother to call someone if they didn't get the job. It's rude yes but that's the way of it these days.

By all means drop them an email, totally fine. But you can expect a delay in the company getting back to you at this time of the year. coming up to xmas most HR departments completely slow down.

Iv have been waiting on a reply since mid November, i has just assumed i didnt get the job. However i emailed them last week and they told me i would be progressing to the next stage of application. Same for another interview also

Its not that employers are testing you out or waiting to see if you will call its just the time of year.

    Give them a ring.

My experience when doing interviews is sometimes the position can be put on hold due to other business factors and there can be a delay in ringing you back or a few interviews got pushed back a few days / a week, and until everyone is interviewed they will not make a decision.

Some companies will not call you back, some companies when they reject an application will send you a letter.

If you haven't received a letter or call, see it is a good thing. You could be on a panel and if someone who got it before you might not want it after all.
    But rung them anyhow.

    Give them a call.

If anything, it lets them know that they've been lacking in their people skills.

Having been on both sides of the interview process, I know that the best-laid plans can easily go awry, for instance the company had every intention of letting the candidate know within a week, but more urgent matters arose in the meantime and they simply didn't get round to informing him or her.

Now you could argue of course that a simple email to the candidate(s) to let them know things have been pushed back somewhat would take two minutes, but companies tend not to do this, as it makes them look fairly incompetent.

So if I were you I'd send an email politely asking about the current situation or alternatively give a quick call to the office. Only once mind, more than this can be quite irritating to the employer and will have your name being associated with negative emotions, which as I'm sure you can work out, is never good.

Normally a person who gets a job is informed within a day or two of the interview and the people who don't get the job are never informed (bad manners) So bear this in mind when you contact them. If the company want you they will contact you and you contacting them will make no difference as to how they decide on a candidate. All it will do is confirm to you that you haven't got the job.

An employer may delay notifying the no. 2 candidate until after the no. 1 has accepted the position.
