    Hello to everyone.
We've just relocated to Dublin and I've heard that we need to find the school for our daughter as soon as possible. I'm a little bit shocked because she is just 1.3. Would you be so kind to advise me some good primary school in Drimnagh or near? Or we should find something in other area, apply to wait list and then change the apartment to be close to school?
I really don't know what we need... should she visit school for girls only or educate together? And how will the primary school affect on entering the good secondary school? Sorry for such questions, but at the moment I don't know anything about this system and I don't want to make big mistake. Thank you for answers!

    Hi there

I wouldnt worry about it for another year (or at least til shes 2), this will give you time to get to know the area and find out more about schools in the nearby. Also some schools dont take names until they're 3. Im from Drimnagh and dont live too far away. Have my childrens names down for the Educate Together school in D8. If you are interested in there do put her name down soonish as its high in demand!

I would contact all the schools and see what their policy is. In our school it is siblings and then 1st come, 1st served- at present. We have a lot of names for 2018 and 2019 already.

Depending what part of drimnagh you would be in catchment for Mourne rd or assumption, walkinstown. Assumption is better school. We live in drimnagh but sent our kids to st Damian's behind ash leaf - great little school! Don't worry too much there are plenty of schools within the area and even if ur outside the catchment you should get somewhere ur happy with

As an ex staff member, I can vouch that the Assumption school is the best school I have ever taught in. From the principal to the staff, pupils, parents, SNAs, lollipop lady etc. Everyone was such a joy to work with. It's a very progressive, forward thinking and well managed school. The Boys' school has now been amalgamated with the Junior Girls' school so it's now a mixed Junior School. After 2nd class, the Junior Girls go upstairs to the Senior Girls school and then onto the Assumption Secondary School next door or to a different school in the locality. I definitely highly recommend.
