Toshiba Laptop not getting past splash screen

Hi,

A friend has given me his Toshiba Satellite C855 to fix.

It is not getting past the "Toshiba Leading Innovation" splash screen. I get not option for the BIOS, none of the usual key options work and will not boot from USB or anything else.

Any ideas? BIOS fried?

Have you pulled out the hard drive and ran it on one stick of ram?

Thanks for that Danger Mouse.

Turned out that it was a faulty HD. Assumed if it was the HD that the bios would still start and tell me it could not read the disk. Have not seen it stop the bios before. (Everyday is a school day)

HD was a replacement one put in by PC world after the first one failed. Time to go back there.

take off all info fdo factory restore
