Commute Cycling to Dun Laoghaire

    Hi,
I am beginning a new job in Dun Laoghaire and am planning to commute by bike but its around 18km, just long enough to need a bit of a shower at the end and was wondering does anyone else commute a distance to Dun Laoghaire and if so whether they have found any gyms or sports clubs around Monkstown/ DL that will negotiate a rate to use their changing rooms and showers first thing in the morning. I'v rang around a few places who will only sell me at best their cheapest membership but that still works out quite expensive considering I wont be using their gyms/ swimming pools.
Id appreciate if anyone had any suggestions,
    Thanks

Bluepool in Monkstown offers full swimming pool membership for €280 a year.

I cant see a problem with a little over a euro a day for a shower. I don't think anywhere else would be cheaper but not sure if the location would suit.

But I would go with the baby wipes otherwise.

I do it. It's not an arduous commute, no major hills or anything, it's only half an hour to town, less if the lights go with you and you're in a hurry! Baby wipes should be more than enough if you even need them. Just don't overdress and you'll be fine. I used a backpack, I'm now getting into panniers and carrying everything on the rack at the back which leaves much less of a sweaty back so that's something to consider. You could throw a change of clothes into a back pack if you want but you should be fine.

There's a new gym on Kill Avenue which is meant to be cheap, we'll for students anyway! http://www.anytimefitness.ie/gyms/uk-0049/co-dublin-dublin

Haven't been in the Blue Pool in a few years, it wasn't great but I think it's been down up since. There's a gym in the Royal Marine Hotel too, might be worth a try.
