If say, I bring my Samsung Galaxy Trend smartphone to USA with the intention of buying and using a sim card purchased there, must I unlock my phone before I arrive or can i do it while abroad?

Anyone have experience / advice about doing this?

I'd have it done before you go, just incase there are any issues over there.

Unlocking the phone is a matter of putting in a code, once it asks for it to be unlocked.

Your phone may already be unlocked. But, the only way to know is to put in a sim from a different network than you are on. Any network. Then you know.

You can enter the unlock code here or in the US. It doesn't matter.

    I've done it before.
