My insurance is coming up for renewal in January and going to be ringing around for prices. I have 4 years NCB but had a small collision back in 2010 where I was at fault. Do I need to disclose this when asked any accidents in the last 5 years or will I just leave it be?!!!! :)

By "leave it be", do you mean make a false declaration/lie/deceive an insurer?

    Tough one that :D.

If an insurance company paid out for your accident then disclose it. If you don't and you have an incident that you are at fault the insurance will go digging for a way not to pay and you Will be screwed.

The Insurance Company already knows about your 2010 incident. It's a test of your honesty, OP, whether you disclose it or not.

I know my insurance company at present knows about it, only reason im asking is that its gone up 100e from last year and want to see can I get a better quote elsewhere...thats where you get the question about accidents in the last 5 years....

Find a company that asks about 3 years.
I know Liberty does. That's who I'm with.
    For that exact reason ;)

Some insurers just don't want you. Previous history ,age etc.
    Try Campion Insurance.

Tell the truth. Always. Failing to disclose leaves you wide open to all sorts of nasty stuff.

Shop around and you might find a better quote.

Given your age and that you have 4 years bonus, the premium you got at renewal and from no nonsense would indicate you are driving a car that is rated quite highly by insurers, that could be an issue too.

Id be extremely wary of not disclosing everything to any new insurers. If anything were to happen ie you crash and you hadn't told them about the previous ding and this subsequently came to light, and believe me, it would, then at best you could expect them to declare your policy null and void for non disclosure, keep your premium that you had paid and leave you to foot the bill yourself.

    Disclose, no question about it.

That a single question mark denotes a question?

Tbh, it sounds like you already know what to do and now are hoping someone will either give you a loophole or enough people will say "sure be grand". That won't happen as encouraging fraud isn't ok in this forum.

I meant every insurance company knows about your claim, all insurance companies share such info.

OP, you're clutching at straws. It's 5 years, as in 60 months. They ask if you have any accidents, or claims, regardless of blame in the last 5 years. You said the accident was in May 2010. So, the 5 years on accidents expires in May 2015, to the date of the accident in 2010. Claims are a bit trickier, so I would just stick with the accident date. A claim might not have been made for several months after the accident, which you would have been notified about. The insurance companies have us all screwed either way. Don't give them an excuse not to pay out.

when i was ringing around for quotes couldn't find cheaper than what I was on, and when I was doing it gave the correct info...better safer than sorry!!!
