A friend has recently taken over a place, and the previous occupant, who has emigrated, left a Horizon box behind. My friend does not intend to subscribe to UPC.

This gives rise to two questions:
    1. Who owns the box? Is there an obligation to return it to UPC?
    2. Is it useful for anything if one is not a UPC subscriber? [Other than as a doorstop.]

UPC owns the box. It should have been returned at end of contract or termination of contract. But, UPC don't chase these things. Once the card is terminated the box is just a doorstop.

If you're not a UPC subscriber, it's useless.
