How to get a bicycle to the US?

    Hi chaps,

I packed up my bike in to a cardboard box so my brother could bring it on a flight to the US but he's forgot it at home. How can I get it to the US now? A few weeks shipping is fine, I'm just trying to keep the cost below 200 Euro one way. I'll bring it back with me on my flight unless there's a cheaper return postage option.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

What do you mean you'll "bring it back with me on my flight".

Your flight from where , to where and when?

    Confusing

I'm in America for a few months, so when I fly back to Dublin I'll check it on as baggage. I looked that up, which is how my brother was meant to bring it to the US today.

Basically I just need to get it from Dublin to Phoenix. All the methods I have come across will cost more than like 400 which is too expensive for me. 100-200 Euro would be ok.

Try www.parcelzone.net - they ship a lot of bikes on here....

If you can afford to be out of pocket for the few months you are there, buy a new or second hand bike and either sell it on before you leave or bring it back and sell it here..

I spent 6 weeks in Arizona (Tucson) and the price of bikes was refreshingly reasonable (particularly Fuji) and you would probably get at least what you paid for it if you sell it back here..

Therre will be good value at this time of the year with closeout deals on the 2014 bike models

Bike hire was reasonable over there (about $30 a day) but if you plan to be cycling a lot, buying a bike over there and selling it at the end makes most economic sense.

Thanks, I'm checking out Craigslist at the moment and you might be right. Second hand bikes are well cheap!
