    Folks,

I'm probably resurrecting an old thread by even mentioning this but I'll ask anyway so if you could re-direct me to the post I would appreciate it. I am on the lookout for Farm Software that I can use for entering all the relevant farm data that I currently use paper & some Excel Sheets for. Any tips/advice on what to lookout for in a farm software package would be welcome.

    Thanks,
    AgriAir.

What are you looking for in it? I would have thought that everything most farmers need can be done using Microsoft Excel and Word.

Agfood will do most of what you need to be compliant more being added to it next year and cards going over the next few years.

Or Agrinet if you want a more detailed package.

Yeah started using it a month or 2 ago, they released a new version yesterday,

I like it personally, when animals are injected it's a couple of taps while walking back to the house and that's the recording done, no more oh yeah I'll write that up tonight...........

Also find it handy, when you tap into an animal it tells you the age in months so it's easy to check when they'd be coming tight on factory ages.

The new version has stock groups, it was something I definitely thought would have been a help when using the original version for putting in dosing records and that.

Handiest thing I find is you don't have to log into it every time, unlike agfood which seems to hate me....

We use gatekeeper as can tie together software from a few different machines together but would suspect not worth the money on stockfarm

Using agrinet here since the mid nineties. Linked to smartphone for the past twelve months. It links to agfood so reconciling the two is easy. I'd take a lot of convincing to change from it. Must start using the grass measuring facility next year.

hey guys any advice on farming software? im looking at getting our stuff online this year (what an exciting new years resolution lol) but having probs finding something I like. Just want an excel spreadsheet that can keep track of income and expenditure and go month by month to start with and one that I can amend but has all the formulas built in . Im good with computers but excels a weak point :( anyone any ideas? anything Iv come across isnt suitable really as I want it fairly detailed and the ones I have found are all about crop and we are suckler.
this year we are changing from outwintering to a slatted unit so really want to assess costs and profits and be a lot more systematic in our approach.
so any ideas and other farming software would be helpful-tried to get the farmflo trail but it wouldnt download (only tried yesterday though) looking at herdwatch as well seems handy enough all right so might get that.
    thanks for your help

I would like to try herd watch but does it justify paying €100/year when I'd only run around 25 suckers and their followers.

Free heading to office to reconcile IFC and Agfood. How do you do this. I'm agrinet for years as well but never reconciled this way yet.

Have someone else taking over record keeping so want it right starting out

Is it just the grass package you have? The full one is 200/yr does all stock records registering and all that.
Has a programme you download onto computer iirc

    Hi,
Got agrinet here last summer. Happy enough with the stock side of it. Im thinking of using the accounts side of it this year and im wondering does anyone have any thoughts/experience of the accounts package. Ive been using Teagasc CCP which it fairly simple and straight forward to use but im wondering if agrinet has more benefits/features.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Im looking at getting farming software, Im going into partnership at home and I think it will save a lot of messing about. Im just curious about how people feel about the different brands? I used Agrinet before and on a dairy farm I used to work on and I didnt really like it. Im hearing a lot about herdwatch and it does sound good but I dunno is 99 punts to expensive???? Also has anyone used farmflo, they seem new enough?

Many people using agrinet and is very good. What did you not like about it. Also what are you getting for 99 punts?

With the likes of kings wood and agrinet, you pay up front for the software and thereafter an annual maintenance charge for access to online support and updates
Yes the programmes log into your Aim account and register calves for you in a few clicks

I was looking at herdwatch, it seems to be the cheapest out there and I'm not sure but it seems to have the best functionality. We would buy and sell a good few cattle, and (now I,m not 100% on this so correct me if I,m wrong) it seems like herdwatch allows you easily apply for movement cert and I think it automatically updates your herd without having to enter tag number for the cattle you move in and out.

Is that the only payment or is there extra cost for the software when starting off?

    using it here

have never applied for a cert but it's quite simple once you have the buyer's details logged

when you synchronize with the dept website,(you need a pin no) it will auto update your animals whether moved in or out, ie whatever are on your herd profile

you can view the cattle moved off farm

Have herdwatch here too. Very simple to use. Can be used offline so if u have bad coverage in the shed or wherever u can still use it.
