A quick question if you are receiving a social welfare payment that is means tested and you are given compensation for an accident, will this affect your social welfare payment ?

If the compensation is awarded to your child (who is under 18) will this also be taken into account establishing the family’s means & affect your payments?

    Thanks

If you receive compensation then it can and will be assessed against your payment depending on what scheme you are on. You will need to notify sw. Any compensation awarded directly to a child cannot be assessed against a parents claim.
