This may be a ridiculous question, and possibly in the wrong forum (sorry), i have what I'm assuming is an eye infection, and have tried all the at home care, like bathing it and eye drops, eye baths ect.
Im wondering who do I go to; my GP, or an ophthalmologist?
or would going somewhere like to an optometrist, even tho they're not medical professionals, be more worthwhile than my doctor?

Funny, this came up on Ryan Tubridy today. He had a guest GP in who said go to your GP and they will refer onwards if needed.

Hi, An eye infection is very common nowadays. there is nothing to panic. A right eye specialist like the one at See By Intravision in Oakville is a very reliable source. Before rinsing or using an existing eye drops, its always good to rely on an expert hands on this. Also an eye specialist can know and analyse better than a normal GP. Hope this helps!

Go to your GP and they might be able to treat it with prescription eye drops or ointment and they will decide if you need to see an ophthalmologist. I doubt you will with something like that though.

Edit: Just seen this is 3 months old

Visit someone with conjunctivitis, they may give you an eye infection.
