So I was thinking the reviews of the new fuji 50-140mm f2.8 zoom look good, I'll check out the price locally.

It's 1799 euro in Dublin. Holy hell.

That's more than 500 euro more than amazon.com or B&H after converting to euro. I know the story about import duty and so on but 500 euro more? It's 1449 euro in Belgium. 1499 in Germany.

For the record I bought three fuji lenses recently in Ireland from one of the big suppliers (10-24mm, 23mm and 56mm) but no way I'm going to even consider this lens at that price. Shame there is such a huge RRP with almost no sale events, it really makes the option of buying locally a non starter.

Always been the same. I've never bought locally. I would if they were even remotely close.

It retails for $1,999 here in Sydney (~1350 Euro). I was in playing with it last week and am very tempted. There is a $200 cashback offer on at the min until Christmas taking the price down to $1799 (~1190 Euro) however, I don't i'll be buying that soon.

Im also tempted to hold out for the 90mm f2 instead.....

I can't imagine buying any Fuji gear unless through a cashback offer. 650 euro cashback currently available on three lenses is really good, along with an annual sale in one of the Dublin stores knocking 300 euro off the three lenses I recently bought made the purchase easier on the wallet.

The x-pro and x-m1 cashback offers were previously great value - an amazon discount price plus Fuji cashback and free lenses and amazon vouchers on top made it a steal.

However this round Fuji won't allow amazon.co.uk as a supplier to Ireland for a cashback offer so we are stuck with buying in Ireland at inflated prices that makes me less likely to buy more Fuji gear in future - the 50-140, 16-55 and 90mm were on my hit list along with an x-pro2 when it arrives.

Conns and Birmingham cameras are both 1799

twice recently, i've seen a 10% difference between conns and gunns (and not on insignifcant items), so it's probably worth giving gunns a call.

I tried gunns, was told they would have to get prices then got a call back from a guy from another camera store who gunns got to call me back - for some reason he thought I was looking to buy an xpro then pretty much scoffed at the idea of any kind of a deal on three 1000 euro lenses. Bit of a waste of time really.
