Good luck with that, not a Hailo cab to be had over the weekend for the trip home.

I was in town on Friday night just gone and tried to hailo a cab at 2am and despite one being two minutes away I couldn't get one. I waited until a taxi with the hailo sign came along and flagged it down and was able to pay using the hailo credit so not to bad I suppose but still a bit of a pain.

the taxi driver said that at that time no one will pick up a fair from hailo as they're too busy with picking up from the road.

makes sense if Hailo are taking a cut from the drivers fair

    Thanks for sharing .
can't seem to find the terms and conditions etc and am new to hailo.
Does the fare have to be a minimum price etc?
Does it automatically deduct when I go to pay?

No minimum price necessary. The full amount is used though. So say the fare is €15, the full €20 voucher will be used.

It automatically deducts when you go to pay. You do have to register a credit card as part of using the voucher though.

had you ordered the cab with the Hailo app? If not then they can refuse to take it as they would lose commision on your fare.

Tried to Hailo two cabs, both cancelled. I then went up hailed a taxi that was standing for hire without using the app. Done it 4 times and had to give up on it. All were Hailo cabs.

Use Pay with Hailo tonight - Pay seamlessly with Hailo, even for taxis you hail on the street http://hailo.io/1tgvBsO

Do you need to signal your intention to use the "pay with Hailo" app to the driver before the journey starts?

I presume the driver has discretion on whether to agree to this or not; especially if s/he isn't booked using Hailo. Link in above post makes no reference to an agreement with Hailo drivers.

Just got email from Hauli, use HAILOXMAS to take €20 off first Hailo ride

I appreciate that but you are either offering the Hailo service or your not. it clearly visible on the roof signs Drivers advertising the service but only offering bits and pieces of the system that suit the driver is hardly fair.

Have to disagree there, if a driver picks up on the street without the hail being off the Hailo app, why should that driver have to pay Hailo?

Kind of like, a fare they found being hi-jacked, just so Hailo can get paid via comission on a CC the driver wasn't going to accept.

Now I have no problem if the job is generated by Hailo, but this smacks of gombeenism

Used Hailo for the first time last night. Great service. Fare was €15.

Checked my account afterwards, and it had used €10 credit (that I didn't know I had) and €5 from my card. I still have a voucher on my account for €20 off your first journey, so don't know why it didn't us that.

Anyways, like I said, great service.

Is there ever codes released other than ones for first timers?

yeah fairly regularly (relatively regularly considering the service you are getting a freebie on)

keep and eye on the likes of paddy's day and in Dublin the Culture Night...

    Big events often have freebies.

Big thanks to the OP for the heads up.

It was my first time using Hailo tonight and I was very impressed.

Used the €20 credit on my own phone, and another €20 on my mothers phone. Delighted! :)
