Shocks and brake pad/disk replacement on Corolla - fair price or am I being fleeced?

    Hey,

Apologies if this is a stupid question but I'm a relative car newbie. Took my car for a service recently, garage said that new front brake discs/pads are required (€210) and that there were issues with front shocks (lh front leaking & excessive play in shaft) - €350 to sort this. So close to €600 in total

Does the price sound reasonable or am I being shafted? Driving 02 Corolla if it's relevant.

    Thanks

its a bit pricey, you can pick up the parts on micksgargae... for 200.... 400 is a bit steep for labour....

Get at least two more garages to have a look and give you quotes.
Don't mention what previous garages has said.

~100 for brakes: http://www.ebay.ie/itm/290507898805 (ask them to make sure these are the ones matching your car specs). Having basic tools and a bit of knowledge you can change them yourself.

And 150 for pair of KYB shocks from micksgarage. Plus the labour.

I remember when my 00 Corolla needed discs and pads, and the dealer in Dundalk charged me 350 for the pleasure.

Go indy or do it yourself, far cheaper....

Mad money. Price was probably for one shock too. 350 tops for 2front shocks (should be done in pairs or it might fail nct on imbalance) and new pads and disks.
