Advice: Removing a doorcard from a locked door

Girlfriend has a rover 45. It passed the NCT bar the rear driver door not opening (visual retest required).

The door won't open from inside or out. I think something is seized inside. I need to get the door car off but since I can't open the door, this isn't an easy job!

My plan is to take out the rear seat and then force off the doorcard anyway I can. Has anyone any advice? I've read the river forums but most advice involves ruining the doorcard.

I don't have many options so any help would be appreciated.

If you could source a replacement from a scrapper cutting it would be the handiest I'd say.

You're probably right. I just thought I might get away with just minimal damage, but a replacement might be the best option. cheers

You could try the old bent coat hanger trick.

Take the outer window rubber off at the bottom of the window and shine a torch inside. If you can see any of the lock mechanism linkages, you should be able to manipulate them into opening the lock.

It might take some experimentation with the coat hanger to get it bent the right way.

You might also have some luck trying the coat hanger from the inside if you can pry the door card back from the glass.

Might be wrong here but in pretty sure rover beefed up the security on the 45?

Try to pull the top part of the door card that is close to the C pillar away from the door you might be able to slip your hand inside and be able to open it.

Got it off eventually with a few pry bars. Lock was totally seized. Had a replacement door card but thankfully didn't need it.

No idea how the whole door mechanism became so totally seized. It wasnt wet/rusted so must be just a bad design or lack of use.
