Trying to connect monitor (with Display port) to laptop (with HDMI)

    Hi,

    Hope someone can help.

    I want to attach my new HP pavilion laptop (with HDMI) => my HP Compaq monitor (with Display Port). I bought a HDMI <-> Display Port Cable but the laptop is not displaying on monitor ... Any ideas why not? Is it even possible to project to monitor using this HDMI<-> DP cable?

    FYI:
    On laptop, I set the 'project' setting to duplicate screen.
    On monitor, default source is DisplayPort
    There is no VGA option on the HP laptop.
