Radiator Question

    If I turn down the hot water feed with the Lockshield Valve on a radiator in an unused bedroom will the other radiators in the house get warmer as a result?

    I was wondering in general what the point of TRV controls are on a radiator when you can limit the water feed through the Lockshield valve to set the temperature or amount of hot water you need to a particular radiator.
    I usually leave the all TRV control fully opened on all radiators and adjust the lockshield valves in certain rooms until the radiator/room is warm enough.

    The lockshield valves are for balancing the system so all radiators get sufficient flow to deliver their rated heat output. This should be done during commissioning, and they should then be left alone. If the balancing is done correctly and the boiler is sized for the installation, then turning off one radiator should not increase the temperature of the others. It will result in less gas/oil consumption though.

    TRVs act to maintain a constant room temperature by adjusting the flow to each radiator automatically so that the room stays at the required temperature regardless of the outside temperature. The main benefit is in reducing costs by avoiding overheating rooms during mild weather.

    I went around the house closing radiators in certain areas (hallway, spare bedroom) via Lockshield & fully opening TRV because I thought that maybe it was drawing heating away from other radiators.

    I also fully opened both lockshield/TRV in the living room area because it didn't feel warm enough, I know it wouldn't be technically balanced as much but would it not be trial and error until the rooms feel right, or is this just counterproductive?
