Where to get a suitcase weighed?

Any one know of somewhere (other than the airport) that I could get a large suitcase weighed, on Dublins north side preferably? The bag is too big to fit on a bathroom scales & get an accurate reading, or be measured by the handheld luggage scales you can buy in Dunnes. Cheers.

Bag is too big/heavy to do that. It's knocking on the door of 70 lbs already.

Can you weight the stuff out in sections and total it up?

Thanks for the suggestions, but I'd really just prefer to take it somewhere and get it weighed on a professional scales, that I know is accurate.

Keep taking stuff out until it weighs the correct amount?

That's only 5 stone, what's the upper limit of your bathroom scales? Surely you can find someone who weighs around 9 or 10 stone to hold it while standing on the scales?

Just to warn you the airport scale may not be accurate and they will not take "I weighed it somewhere else and put nothing else in and it was under the limit" as proof.

I weighed my bag coming home (Ryanair) at the destination airport when the checkin girl asked me to. It was 9.8kg on the scale. That's over a kg more than what it had weighed when leaving the hotel. I weighed it again in Dublin at an unmanned desk and it came up as 8.8kg. Nothing had been taken out of the case and in fact I'd actually put back my book in it by then.

Be very careful cutting it too fine when approaching the weight limit. Their scales (either intentionally or just from over-use and lack of being maintained) are not always right.

Folks - as per the thread title & my OP, please post if you know of somewhere to take a bag, as is, to be weighed. I appreciate the input, but for reasons I won't bore you with, I'm not interested in DIY options at this time.

This might sound silly, but a vets would have a large scale you should be able to fit the suitcase on, and I presume they would be pretty accurate? If you are friendly or know any vets they may be willing to help

Could you go to a chemist with one of those weighing scales for people to weigh themselves on? They have fairly big platforms. Don't know of any in North dublin specifically but might ring a bell with someone.

A Vet has way more important things to be doing than entertaining someone looking to weigh a bag.

maybe get in touch with many of the haulage firms out by the airport - most, if not all, would have a weigh-bridge and might be able to help you out.

Some big hotels have luggage scales like the ones in the airport. Some even print receipts of the bags weight. Try ring some of the big chain hotels that cater for international tourists.

Why not take it to the airport and put it in an unattended check in scales? There are also scales in both terminals where you just pay a euro or two to get an accurate reading

Thanks a million. Just gave Bewleys a ring there & they have a luggage scales. Happy out !

OP, if you are not sorted your local butcher may have a scales for weighing carcasses.

Maxi zoo pet shops have scales that allow you to go in and weigh yr dog, maybe they might allow you to weigh the suitcase....
