Lego storage/organiser

    Hey all,

My son is 5 and loves Lego. He has received a quite a few sets over the last year for Christmas and birthday. He initially builds the set with his Daddy but eventually takes it all apart to make his own spaceship/vehicule, whatever!

So all the lego pieces end up together in a big plastic box. Today he asked me to find the tiniest piece and I almost cried!

He's due to receive more Lego for Christmas so I need to think about a proper storage/organiser solution. I saw this in Amazon and it looks good Box4Blox but some of the reviews say that it is flimsy and small. Anyone has it?

We have a very curious 9 month old baby that crawls, so we can't have open boxes as storage.

    Thank you!

As someone whose son is also getting into LEgo in a big way, this looks like a great idea. Slightly expensive though.

We got one of the actual lego sorter heads in Smyths. I can't post a link but here's Smyths order number: 127505

    Only €20

Thanks for that, but it looks like it is just a pretty box? Does it sort the Lego as well? I am looking for a way to sort/organise the lego pieces.

Could you use something like this? It says you can stack them!

I was going to suggest something like this too, or maybe a big plastic jewellery organiser that has lots of compartments

It sure does. Take the top cap off, throw in some lego and shake.. There are something like 3 sorting trays inside that the parts grade through.

Take a look at it on YouTube and you'll get a better idea.

Aaaaah in that case you might be talking about this one, which is different than the one you listed above, not exactly 20 euros :-)

It looks really good, that's exactly what I am looking for! Cheers!

Because tidying up and organising parts don't always go hand in hand I used a big tool chest on wheels which has a large top tray for "special" parts and you can "shovel" parts into the main compartment when putting things away in a hurry. Its also so big it will hold several large made up models with out them getting damaged. Then for further sorting use plastic food boxes inside the main box. Just beware of small fingers getting caught in the locking clips a five year old may need someone to open and lock that sort of tool box for them.

I have the same problem with my two master builders.

Get some of these with lids, you can get them in different sizes.

Use one for each colour (blacks in one, whites in another, another for 'special' pieces etc). Makes it much easier to find that one goddamn piece that has gone invisible...

The plastic 3 drawer units are great for it,the drawers are clear so you can see the lego and the drawers are big.
    Heatons have them.

ive this yoke, along with another 2 half the size that stack on top of it, and they are the business.

its also stackable with the head (which I will have to get), which is even available as a pirate, pumpkin head, angry man etc.

This is the one to have if you're looking for certain bits. Small bits filter down the bottom and the bigger pieces stay in the top tray.

A simple box does not do the same thing, and several boxes won't do it either unless you manually sort the Lego when putting it away!

If I didn't have the Lego head already I'd probably go for this for ease of cleanup.
