Would love the feedback on what to wear with a cranberry colour dress I bought today in Dorothy Perkins. It's fitted, knee length with darts at the waist and little slight capped sleeves, just at the shoulder.

What tights and shoe colour would you recommend? I asked the girl at the checkout and she said black tights and shoes.

Would appreciate what you would recommend to wear,

    Thanks!

I would go with black tights (high denier - opaque as you can get without looking like school socks!) and either platform heels (think Christian Louboutin esque) or black, sparkly heels.

Or, if you wanted to dare bare legs - legs out with nude or pale pink heels, you could even go gold, glittery or patent considering the time of year! The colour of the dress will be festive and the shoes could add a bit of splarkle.

You could also try black tights with a shimmer running through them. There are pairs with a gold sparkle to them in Dunnes at the moment, totally festive!

What fabric is the dress? Is this for day wear or evening wear? Casual?

Thanks for the suggestions, I will check out those sparkly tights in Dunnes too.

The dress is similiar to this http://euro.dorothyperkins.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?searchTerm=burgundy+dress&storeId=13064&productId=16843451&urlRequestType=Base&categoryId=&langId=-1&productIdentifier=product&catalogId=34070

but more of a plunging neckline, and comes with a little black belt.
It's for going to a christmas party night.

If your dress is a similar colour to it, black tights and shoes might be a little dark, unless they're sparkly shoes (or tights). You could always wear a nice pair of skin coloured tights with nude shoes, but it really depends on what you have at home, whether you have a budget to buy new shoes, and, of course, what you're comfortable wearing.

Personally, I often wear grey or charcoal tights with a cranberry dress. That's more for day-time wear though. It sounds like quite a versatile colour so maybe hold it up against a few different things to see which colours work with it.
