Lost freeview channels

i am in letterkenny i have a terristal aerial and combo box fergusion ariva.
I get Rtes BBBCs itv 23&4, i had film4 till about 2 weeks ago but now i have lost it.
I can recieve all the same stations that i get via box (minus rtes as my telly is not dual tuner)by plugging the coax into telly.
I cant get channel four or itv/utv no matter how many times i try to retune
I had aerial / sat installer take a look reckoned fix was a new aerial or a satelitte dish.
Not entirely sure that its the aerial as my picture is crystal clear.
I felt he did not take a proper look and could not give an exact figure............ as it would depend on type of aerial etc etc and i dont have a suitable location to mount a sat dish.

I think my signal is from limavady is there a possibility or frequencies being to close.

    Any advise or suggestions appericated.

So you don't have a satellite dish connection to the Ariva?

If you have ITV2 & 3 on Freeview, you should still have UTV & Film4. You will have lost Film4 +1 in the past few weeks if you don't have a receiver with DVB-T2 capability, as needed for Freeview HD.

The TV doesn't need to be a 'dual tuner' to get Saorview + Freeview: a single tuner of the right kind is all that's needed.

Digital reception is all-or-nothing, 'crystal clear' pictures or 'no signal' once quality falls below a certain point, with only a narrow threshold of breakup/blocky pictures in between: perfect pictures do not necessarily equal perfect signal quality, so you can't dismiss the aerial installer's verdict based on that.

Thanks for that as you mentioned i dont have a satelitte into ariva box and have only one co ax into box from aerial.
I would also have thought what you say about getting film 4 / itv etc.
Would these channels gone over to hd have caused this?
The installer did also mention that the frequency may be to close and a diplexer MAY fix this but i am unsure what that would do to help.
Also could the outdoor amp being faulty be a problem

The local Letterkenny transmitter has its multiplexes on channels (channel as in section of RF bandwidth) that are adjacent to 2 of the Freeview multiplexes from Limavady, so could cause problems if the signal from Letterkenny is sufficiently stronger than Limavady. Letterkenny can't be filtered out with a diplexer, as this is only to separate bands of channels, not individual channels.

You probably just have a single aerial pointed at Limavady & Holywell Hill?

Yes i have a single grid type aerial approx 6 years old.
Simply retuned when digital signal went live with no issues.
What is the fix for the issue would the aerial mounted amp be at fault.
When i unplug the attic amp my picture goes dead i presume this powers the aerial mounted amp and if so would indicate the aerial amp is good.
    Regards

If you have ITV 2, but no UTV or Film4, that isn't an aerial problem. These channels are all in the same multiplex (mux.): if you get one of them you should get them all. Maybe you don't actually have ITV2 now?

One thing worth mentioning, the Fanad transmitter is recommended for Saorview reception in an area at the NW edge of Letterkenny (by the Saorview coverage checker), & this transmitter uses the same channel for Saorview mux. 2 as Limavady uses for the mux. with UTV, C4 etc., so could be a cause of interference.

If this is the case, a decent aerial installer should at least have a few ideas to provide a solution: maybe a different aerial or maybe source the problem Freeview mux. from Strabane. (Maybe that's where the diplexer comes in? To add a 2nd aerial.)

I've got a similar problem - UTV HD has now disappeared from where I had it stored (Freesat setup).

Anyone know why it got moved or when/where?

What do you mean where you had it 'stored'? What make/model of receiver do you have?

UTV HD moved transponder over a month ago to 11068 V 23000 2/3
STV HD is on the same TP
BTW this is the terrestrial forum
