Is Parental consent needed to be administered implanon, and if so; until what age?

From doing a quick google search a 16 or 17 year old can consent to a medical procedure, which I assume would also mean the insertion of Implanon. A 15 year old may also be prescribed contraceptives in certain circumstances and are protected by patient confidentiality.

If you have to ask.. then you probably shouldnt be having sex. Nothing like having sex with a minor to get you on the sex offenders list.

I would advise cooling things off a while. Nothing is less sexy than being on the sex offenders list. Passion may only last for one night but Sex offenders Register is for Life.

That's quite the dramatic leap to make. Nothing in the OP's post indicates that they are below the age of consent.

Logically if you are above the age of consent you just go to your doctor, If you are unsure if you are within the age then you probably shouldn't be having sex.

You can still be 17 and unsure of the age of consent,im mid 20s and dont know the age so should i not be having sex? Your posts arent really helpful

Op you can go to your doctor and they will advise you further but as previous posters have said 16 would generally be the age without parental consent

OP, your best bet would be to give one of the Well Woman Centres a call. You don't have to go there to get one fitted, but it'd be more anonymous than contacting your GP. At a guess I'd say 16/17 but I can't see any sites that say it for sure. The only ones I can find are for UK and they say 16, but that's the age of consent there, so that might be a factor.

The OP may be a parent.
