History of Irish Tattoo?

    Hey folks,

I'm trying to get some info on the history of tattooing in Ireland. Who would be the longest-working artist around?
Or has there been someone with a colourful (eh? puns yeah?) history that isn't working anymore?

I'm asking because I'm trying to get in contact with people at different stages of their professional development - from old hands to recent starters or new emerging artists or apprentices - for a short doc/film I plan on making.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance guys :)

Well regarding history wise, it was an Irish guy Samuel Rielly or O'Rielly who invented the modern tattoo gun that's all I know anyway

johnny eagle, bren hart, joe myler, badger (up the north) danny bullman these would be a few names to seek out for docu as corner stones of irish tattooing

    Cheers folks - great info.
I'm trying to get the interviews filmed before the middle of Feb - so I'll keep you posted on how it goes.

    Thanks again
