Nissan almera 1.4 n15 2000 starting problem

    Have the above car and the last few week s having trouble starting, I would turn the key and engine light would flash on it, engine would try and start but would fail like there no juice going to it, I would try at least 8/9 times and eventually it would start and run fine. Got lad to hook it up to find fault and was told its fault between key and nats, so was just wondering if anyone else had this problem and what to do, do I get new key and programmed or bring it to someone about immobilizer or even if anyone here could sort it, many thanks .

    Have you a 2nd key you could try?

    Nissans of that era use transponders in the keys that the car reads. Sometimes they can't see each other and when you start the car it dies after two or three seconds. Try the other key and take other car keys off the keyring if you have them on the keyring. I had the same before when using the second key for the car. A quick trip to the dealers for a reset fixed it.

    Did u have to bring your car or just the key

    So I brought key over to auto locksmith he said its fine explained everything to him and he thinks its something with the ignition barrel cant see it till end of next week, came back and just checked battery and all fuses all looks good tried to start it and started straight away, turned off tried again then no joy same engine light flashing very annoying
