It is meant to be a Not for Profit organisation afaik. Profits are known as Surpluses and losses are known as deficits basically. Ran no different and no less prudently to a normal business but the wealth is basically said to be reinvested back into the game or so they say.

Im assuming that to be classified as a charity, an organisation would have to be collecting funds to be restributed amongst society's worthy causes. GAA would be sport and recreation really although when they formed originally id imagine it went hand in hand with Irelands battle to gain independence. Any funds raised at that time was probably invested in arms, etc.

the GAA was never a freedom fighting organisation.

there was indeed a lot of mixing of the folks, with IRB and whatnot using the GAA as a recruiting ground, but I'd be careful of accusing it of being essentially a terrorist organisation.

Im talking about its origins. Of course its worth noting that the Irish faced much oppression back then so any course of action that people took was with good reason.
