Just wondering whom among the Boardsie Motoring community are getting new cars in 2015?

    Make, model, spec. etc.

I'd be interested to hear who's getting what.

I'll be getting some souless 3 cylinder rattly daysullllllll with no air con and keep fit windows in the back.

Can't forget those hubcaps and a bit of poke either! And that chape tax lad.

I hope they take my 6 cylinder, rear wheel drive silky smooth petrol with full leather, heated seats, Cruise control and alloy wheels that I paid €500 for as a trade in.

Oh no, I'm delighted that someone will be buying a new car and suffering the depreciation on it because they wany te new car smell and a 151 plate.
I can't and never will see the sense of it but I'm glad some do.
The 750 that Sobańek both would have bought you a house in dublin back in 99....guess what, the 750 is worth what 4k maybe, the house in dublin is worth probably 250k.
The latter makes much more sense.

A golf is probably a fifth of the cost of a new top of the line 7er, a lot less to lose. And people have lost a hell of a lot more on houses than that car has too.

The thing is though it's usually the people scoffing at people buying new cars, sighting depreciation etc are the same people giving out about the lack of secondhand ones to their liking. Someone has to do it, if they can afford it best of luck to them.

If someone came on here saying all old cars were horribly dated/unsafe/less reliable/full of someone else's snot for example (I'm not saying that mind although maybe on the snot:pac:) there would be similar uproar from the other side.

I'd agree with this I've never owned a new car yet. But from my parents buying them there is just something about a new car that feeling that you don't get of any secondhand car 7 series or not. Tbh life is a bit too short to be going around just buying 10 year old cars because your afraid of loosing a few bob in deprecation specially when your into cars. Also cars arent loosing as much at all these days. Based On the trade in values my mother recently got on her octavia that nearly 3 years old she is loosing so little on it.

Then when I look at what I paid for my 7 year old golf and what my dad paid for a new one last week I got the worst end of the stick. Decent well minded cars hold their value well in general.

True the golf wouldn't buy you a gaff in dublin today, but itd go a long way towards a deposit on one, or buy some dodgy three bed in Longford.
Also very few houses of any depreciated by 90+%.
Anyway I'm totally off topic, fair decks to you if you can stomach the depreciation, I just prefer spending for appreciation

I won't say new, but there is the slight possibility of a 2-4 year old arrival later in the year.....

    Lucky feckers!! :D

Golf highline 1.4TSI due in early Jan (well.....it's the wife's car really). Was trying to persuade her to go for the R-Line to make it stand out from the run of the mill Golfs but the highline is nice too. Stunning interior I have to say.

I have an 05 1.9 high line Passat ( 284k miles) and my husband has an 02 Golf...definitely gonna replace my car next year but still pondering whether to get a new one or one that is 1 or 2 years old..will most likely stay with Volkswagen as they've been so good to us..any advice/ opinions would be appreciated as it's been a long time since we've done this!

The Dad has ordered his new car for the new year. Is trading in his Ford C-Max and getting a Kia Sportage. He would have liked a new Ford but the revamped C-Max is not yet out and he looked at the Kuga but the Ford dealers lately are just terrible.
He got a great deal on the Sportage it will probably be his last new car anyway so he ain,t worried about residual value and its a local dealer too so supporting local jobs as well also less stress too.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

I'm trading in my Ford Grand C Max. Was offered a great trade in against another C Max, and realised there was a re-vamp on the way which I would just miss. Also mine is under powered - only 95 bhp, and while they could get me a 115 bhp from the UK, where that is the standard, I just went off it altogether. Tested a Mazda CX5 - loved it, but too bulky for me, Quashqai, which seemed poky, Kia Sportage, which I liked and ended up choosing a Kia Carens - very like the CMax, but slightly better use of space and 115 bhp. Looking forward to getting it. Colour choice is crap though - settled for boring silver.

Well done on ordering your new Kia Carens I think they are a lovely car very stylish. Don,t know what is up with Ford in Ireland lately just gone very bad. They should have let you know about the revamp and not try and trick you into buying a pre revamp model. A pity as the C-Max is a lovely car.

I figured about the revamp when I asked about a trade in against an SMax (which I didn't want), and it was worse by several thousand. Then I read it on this forum, which I would recommend anyone to read if looking at cars. I don't need 7 seats regularly, but like the space. And two-year service interval, 7 year waranty... Yes, Kia's have really upped their game in terms of style.
