ITV - Spanish version of the NCT

    Hola chicos,

I just did the ITV, the Spanish version of the NCT and passed. Now this caught me by complete surprise, as there were 3 definite things wrong with it, and probably a few more that I didn´t know.. Its a great car that I drive, but needs a service..

The driver airbag doesn´t work, the tracking of the car is off, it slowly wants to turn left and (I only noticed the day of the test, at the centre) air was needed in the rear right hand tyre.

I braced myself for a list of things to do to the car, but they passed it and told me to see to the drivers airbag before the next check in 2 years....

Would these issues have caused me to fail in Ireland..?

The driver's airbag light would definitely be a fail in the NCT anyway. The airbag check light comes on for about 30 sec when the ignition is switched on so they would fail it if it didn't. Tracking could possibly too depending on how much it is out but not sure, underinflated tyre could possibly only be an advisory but why not just pump it up before the test.

The ITV is a lot slacker than the NCT.

Just an update on this... I brought the car in for a serivce... I was out of the country on and off for 3 months and it was due... plus some other things I asked to get done.
Here is a list of what they did, time spent on it and the cost for each area...

Some people would be interested in the costs, it is an authorized Audi service centre.

EDIT... How can I resize attachment... Mods..?

Iridium plugs could be, there's probably an extra premium on prices with them not located on mainland Spain.

A Google of the part number suggests £47 (€65) for 4, most likely main dealer charge a little more on top of that.

Prices very similar to here I say.
oil filter at dealer here is €16 for my Audi
Spark plugs can be got under 50 but the dealer charges about €90.
An awful lot of cash spent there. What did you get done beside oil, oil filter, spark plugs and pollen filter?

There needed alignment done, the airbag was faulty, there was a crack in 2 of the mudguards under the wheel arches... the spark plugs..
they did all the usual oil change, brake fluid, air filters... new windscreen wipers...

Iridium plugs are easily in that price range and above - went to a parts place a few days ago, asked the guy about the sparkplugs for the JTS and his eyes went as wide and saucers when he came back with a figure of 23 euro each. You can find them cheaper online, but not much (17-18 Euro).

Also, as I have been saying for a very long time, the perception Irish people have about prices in Ireland being higher is just that - a perception. Car wise, some of the parts I actually got here for a few euro less than they'd cost in Italy - remarkable, if you consider we're talking about an Alfa...
