Posted this in the sub-forum but seems quiet there:

I have a message telling me the left side light is gone. Opened the back of the headlight unit and there's no way I can get the bulb out, looks like a headlight out job. Halfords gave me 2 bulbs, 501 type, but I'm confused looking around the net, some say its a dealer job and the bulb is 30 quid, any one changed one recently? Non xenon.

I believe there are 2 ways - official BMW part is the easiest but most expensive. Apparently, the bulb is a normal bulb in a special holder, so you can either buy the whole thing from BMW, or try to remove the normal bulb from the holder, and replace with another normal bulb.

How you actually get to the bulb, I haven't a clue - not even looked at it on my car, just handed it to our indy and got it back working :pac:
