Sell Touchpad and buy Aldi tablet?

    Hi all,

I have a HP Touchpad that is in mint condition and rarely been used.

Doesn't get much use as it still has Web OS on it so can't really download apps or anything.

As a result I'm thinking of buying the tablet for sale in Aldi tomorrow.

I'm half thinking of selling the Touchpad and a friend of a friend has offered me €100 for it. The tablet in Aldi is €200 so I'm wondering whether it would be wise to take the €100 for the touch pad and buy the lifetab in Aldi for another €100?

I'm kinda loathe to let go of the Touchpad as it's like brand new, but without Android on it I don't use it as much as I should.

Is €100 good money to get for a Touchpad?

P.S, I know you can put Android on the touchpads, but I tried before and it didn't go to well.. so would prefer not to go down that route again.

Funds are tight, so I'm wondering if I'm daft to be thinking of spending another €100 to upgrade to the Aldi tablet seeing as the Touchpad is so well minded and cared for.

I need to make my mind up soon as the Aldi tablets go on sale tomorrow.

Am I mad to sell the Touchpad for a Lifepad, or would that be the smart move to make?

    I know I could get cheaper 7" tablets, but I like having a 10"..

Any advice and opinions at all would be greatly appreciated!

Help me decide please guys! :D

How much did you pay for touch pad?

Just looking at specs of touchpad. I'd take the 100 if you're not interested in putting android on it.

I'd bite that friend's hand off at €100....the Touchpad has dated badly over the years. I got one during the big sale and sold it a few months later. Last year I needed a 9.7" tablet so re-purchased it and put Android on it again. Bloody awful it was!! Slow and heavy. Takes an age to start up too if I recall correctly.

That said I wouldn't go near Aldi for tech stuff either!

Cheers guys, yeah I'm kinda thinking it would probably make more sense to take €100 for it and put another €100 along with it to get the Lifetab, as it will have a 3 year warranty aswell and I think Aldi are pretty decent when it comes to returns and wastage issues.

For the person who asked how much I paid for it, if I can recall it was around €200 for the 32gb version along with the original HP Touchpad case.

I think the Touchpad was out around 2011 so I'm guessing the Aldi tablet should be a fair bit of an upgrade over it.

Or alternatively if anyone knows of any similarly priced 10" tablets let me know!

I'm guessing the Aldi one will probably be the best bang for your buck at the minute however. I know you could get cheaper ones of questionable quality and no name brands from China but I reckon Aldi should be fairly decent plus it has the warranty too

I picked up one on Thursday and I'm delighted I did.

I can't get over how thin it is. it feels like a real premium product that really belies it's cheap price point.

It's very slick and fast and it's pretty much stock Android, so no bloatware.

Highly recommended if you can still manage to get one.

It's sold now and with the buyer and they're delighted with it and I'm delighted with the Lifepad, so everyone is happy :)

It was the best move IMHO. In fact, I didn't even think you could sell a Touchpad this far down the road.

I remember going into Argos in Dundrum thinking I was in luck.. only to see someone walking out the door with that brown box, I was heart broken.
